Corral, a showdown between a group of outlaws and the Earp brothers, acting as representatives of the law. Historically, the gunfight took place in the town of Tombstone, Arizona and it subsequently came to occupy a prominent place in Western mythology as it epitomises brilliantly the conflict between law and lawlessness that is at the heart of the Western genre. Wyatt Earp (Henry Fonda) and his brothers Morgan (Ward Bond), Virgil (Tim Holt) and James (Don Garner) are driving their cattle east when they encounter Old Man Clanton (Walter Brennan) and his sons, who offer to buy their herd. After the Earps decline, their cattle are stolen and James, who had been left in charge of them, is murdered. Wyatt becomes town marshal in Tombstone and uses his position to restore things to order and seek justice for his murdered brother. To his feud with the Clantons is added a clash with a gambler and former surgeon by the name of Doc Holliday (Victor Mature), a clash which eventually develops into an alliance.
